We are a diversified group of people who come from vast religious backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly happy to share the joy we find in worship, prayer and fellowship with you.

There have been centuries of people growing and yearning together to seek God. In many ways we celebrate the Spirit of God in our midst with the exchange of a warm hand, an inspiring anthem, the gospel message, a well-known hymn, the sacraments of our faith, the story of our faith through scripture, moments of thoughtful prayer, and the many ministries of our volunteer committees and mission activities.

You will find that there is an enthusiasm and energy about First Church that perpetually grows from its old roots. It is nourishment that fosters our abilities to adapt to a new and ever-changing culture and society. With the roots of commitment and covenant, we have been able to fly with the wings of God's grace through all kinds of joy and adversity. There is also an openness here that invites new beginnings and says to all that God is here forever inviting us into relationships and dialogue with The Spirit.

Come through the many doors of this church - experience the comfort, friendship, companionship, celebrations, joy, service and fellowship of faith - the hallmarks of First Church.

What Does it Mean to be a Member of a Church?

There are a few obvious reasons - belonging to a fellowship of believers, seeing yourself as one of a community of caring companions, worshiping God and praying together. One also joins a church to connect to a religious history, to participate in the values of our social society, to embrace our need for cultural inclusiveness, and personally to find a place where we are spiritually inspired and enriched, find avenues of personal growth, experience hope in a tenuous world, and receive comfort and consolation when in need.

Please consider joining us in this pursuit to be the Church of God in Woodbury. Anyone interested in future membership can speak with Rev. Mark or any Deacon for more information. See Member News for regularly scheduled New Member Sundays.
